Shimmerchains is a decorative chain system designed for commercial interiors and exteriors. We supply hanging chain features made from anodised aluminium, ideal for visual partitions, backdrops, or design accents in hospitality, retail, and architectural spaces.
What chain shapes are available?
We offer two exclusive chain shapes: Ellipse and Curve. Each offers a distinct visual profile and design flexibility. Ellipse is available in 3 sizes, whilst Curve is available in 2 sizes.
What’s the difference between the Ellipse and Curve chains?
Ellipse chains have a classic, symmetrical look ideal for timeless or minimal styles. Curve chains feature a subtle asymmetry and can be used to create intricate patterns or even logo designs through colour placement.
How many colours can I choose from?
Shimmerchains are available in over 40 colours, with a choice of polished or satin anodised finishes. This wide palette makes it easy to match brand identities or interior colour schemes.
Can I mix colours within a single installation?
Yes. Colour mixing is one of the most powerful features of Shimmerchains. You can combine different colours within the same chain drop or across a wider layout. This service is uniquely achievable with our Curve chain type.
Can I incorporate my brand logo or design into the chain?
Absolutely. Using our Curve chain shape and a custom colour arrangement, we can reproduce logos, icons, or abstract designs within your chain installation.
Are the chains fire safe?
Yes. Our chains are made from anodised aluminium, a non-combustible material that meets common fire safety standards for commercial interiors and exteriors.
Are the chains suitable for outdoor use?
Shimmerchains are designed primarily for indoor commercial settings. Outdoor use is possible, but exposure to weathering may affect finish over time.
How do I clean or maintain the chains?
Chains require minimal maintenance. A gentle dusting or wipe with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasives.
Can I order samples?
Yes. We provide sample chain links and finish swatches on request, so you can assess colour and material quality before placing an order.
Installation
How are the chains installed?
Chains are suspended from our installation bar or rail system, which can be mounted to ceilings, walls, or structural frames. The bar can also be hung using steel cables. The specific setup depends on your project - our engineers will help recommend the best solution to your needs.
Do you provide the installation bar system as well?
Yes. We supply compatible mounting tracks and installation bars along with guidance for correct installation, ensuring a smooth and secure setup.
Is professional installation required?
We recommend using a professional fitter or interior contractor, especially for large or custom installations. However, the system is simple enough for experienced facilities teams to handle.
Can the chains be trimmed on-site?
Yes. Chains can be cut to length during installation using standard metal snips. This allows for flexibility around site conditions or ceiling height. We recommend a clearing distance of 20mm from the floor.
Are the chains fixed in place or do they move?
That’s up to your design. Chains can hang freely for a soft, kinetic effect, or be secured with our fixings for a structured look.
Do you offer installation services?
We don’t install directly, but we can recommend trusted installers depending on your project location and scope.
Delivery
Where do you deliver?
We deliver globally. Most of our projects are in the UK, Europe, and North America, but we’re happy to ship to other regions on request.
Can I change my plan later?
Lead times vary depending on order size and customization. Single-colour orders typically ship within 2-3 weeks. Custom colourwork or logo designs may take 4-5 weeks.
How is the product packaged for delivery?
Chains are carefully coiled and boxed to prevent tangling or damage. Mounting hardware and colour guides are packed separately and clearly labelled.
Can I track my order?
Yes. Once your order ships, you’ll receive tracking information via email, along with estimated delivery times.
